Tom Wesselmann, was a key figure in New York's Pop Art movement alongside Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Known for his bold paintings and inventive sculptures, Wesselmann drew inspiration from pop culture and art history, and pioneered the technique of cutting steel and aluminum into the shapes of his drawn forms. Born in Cincinnati in 1931 and passing away in 2004, his work is held in major collections, including the Art Institute of Chicago, the Whitney Museum, and the Tate Gallery in London.
